Operation Friendship

Scholar-athletes from the Catholic League and Detroit Public School League were honored at the Operation Friendship Banquet on June 4. Operation Friendship is a program that schedules goodwill games between the Detroit Public School League and the Detroit Catholic League. It culminates in a banquet where our own EC students were nominated in five categories:

Fabiana Diaz – Tennis Award

Hannah Terbrack – Cheerleading Award

Patrick Nalepa – Soccer Award

Sam Bellestri – Golf Award

Patrick Nalepa – Basketball Award

A big congratulations to Sam Bellestri for winning the Golf Award!!

Sam Bellestri won the Tom Connell award for Golf. His name is forever in the books of the CHSL for winning this award.

The late Tom Connell was an outstanding prep mentor at River Rouge Our Lady of Lourdes High School. Golf being a gentleman’s game, fits Tom Connell, who was always a perfect gentleman. The league proudly presents the golf award to the scholar-athlete in his name.

My son is also a perfect gentleman formed for 18 years at home and 15 years at Everest.
