From June 17-19, the girls and dads hiked 22 miles on the North Country Trail/Manistee River loop.  With only what they carried on their backs, they set off into the woods to enjoy fabulous weather, food cooked over an open fire (including Jiffy Pop popcorn) and all wonder created by God.  On the second leg of the trip they were joined by Olivia and Paul Cloutier.

About the trail:  Established in 1980, The North Country National Scenic Trail stretches more that 4,600 miles from eastern New York to western North Dakota, is administered by the National Park Service but, maintained primarily by volunteers.   The trail passes though the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan (both the upper and lower peninsulas), Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota.  There are 9 people known to have hiked, or biked, the trail from end to end; with the first woman set to complete the trail in August of this year.

If you have a cool summer trip to share, please send pictures to Chelsea Niemiec: cniemiec@everestacademy.org. She will post them right here on the blog for all Everest families to enjoy!
