It’s been a few days since our game. Sorry for taking so long to respond. As you all know, the outcome wasn’t what we hoped. We competed for the first 16 minutes, but the last 16 was another story. I think the physical play and the magnitude of the event was too much for us to handle – but I promise you, next year when we take the floor in our first district game we will be better prepared because of what we learned on Monday night.

Looking back, I am excited to say we learned a great deal this season. We learned:
1. How important it is to come prepared for practice each day because there is so much to learn.
2. How to win on the road.
3. How to win a close game.
4. How to manage the clock late in a game.
5. How to fight back when you’re down double digits.
6. How to play when the calls aren’t going your way.
7. How to play in front of small crowds.
8. How to play in front of large, vocal crowds.
9. The players learned what it takes to be a varsity player.
10. Last but not least, our Athletes learned how special Everest Collegiate High School is and how lucky they are to have the support of the Everest Community.

We are all looking forward to the 2010-2011 season. The players will be busy in the off season working on their individual games, getting strong and playing a lot of pick up games as a team. Next year we will have both a JV and Varsity team. That means more playing time for all the members on the team and the opportunity to be a full fledge member of the Detroit Catholic League Intersectional Division. The team we play will be tougher, but I promise the effort we displayed this year will continue and we will do our best to make the Everest Community proud of us.

Again, thank you to all the fans for your support. This is a season we’ll never forget. Though the end was ugly, the journey along the way was MEMORABLE – 14-6! This is only the beginning of decades of memorable moments.

The other night was disappointing, but the season was great!!
Our boys have learned a lot and will only get bigger, stronger and smarter! Look out for us next year.

Thanks to Coach Lowney and her staff who have been such a blessing to the Everest family! Thanks to Nancy Burgess and her cheerleaders who were always there to cheer the team on. And thanks to Mary Jo Allen who was willing to drive that big yellow bus full of noisy teenagers!

We couldn’t be more proud of our boys. GO MOUNTAINEERS!!

Thank You so much for the season Mrs Lowney. I know I learned one more thing that you forgot to mention: that when you decide to join a competitive varsity team, you are no longer a group of friends playing basketball. You become a family there to fight and help eachother along the way. And when one person makes a dumb mistake on or off the court it affects the whole team.

Thank You sooooo much, I learned so much on the court as well as off the court this season and I look forward to continuing to grow as a player, teammate, and person.
