A Word From Our Varsity Basketball Coach…..

“Great game yesterday boys. 12-5 who would have thought! I was so proud of the effort by everyone. You’ve come a long way, but there is still so much to learn. Never be content with the past and always strive to improve your individual game and to improve as a team. If you continue to “DO the WORK” during each practices – We’ll get the “WORK DONE” during the game.” ~Ann Lowney

You know wanna know the reason to our success? 12-5 doesn’t happen to any normal junior varsity/varsity team. The only reason we are where we are is because of you coach. Thanks for a wonderful season so far and hopefully it doesn’t end soon. Oh, and blogging is a little feminine, but I make it manly…

Blake Beauchamp - February 26, 2010 - 10:50 pm

Gosh Patrick, Burg, and Ben, you girls got the “stare” down… if you need some help smiling, I’ll gladly help you out… just give me a wink in the hallway and I’ll know what to do… You guys make the picture look so nice, I’m glad that the high school bballers to come have a picture to look up to…

Blake Beauchamp - February 26, 2010 - 10:57 pm

Oh and please excuse my previous grammar on that first sentence…I think y’all know what I was talking bout…

Patrick - February 27, 2010 - 5:36 pm

Thanks, Coach! But aren’t we 13-5?

Patrick Nalepa - February 28, 2010 - 8:51 am

Thanks, Coach!

Marhy Ellen Cross - February 28, 2010 - 8:58 am

Thanks Coach Lowney for a great season. The future is very exciting for this team. Go Mountaineers!

Richie Cross - February 28, 2010 - 12:10 pm

Soon We’ll get another “WORK DONE” after we beat up on Lakes varsity.

Nails - March 1, 2010 - 12:33 pm

Who should be “Coach of the Year”? Mrs. Lowney for her outstanding work with the Everest Varsity Boys Basketball Team or Mr. Ross for his “banner winning” season (first ever basketball banner in schol history)with the 5th & 6th grade boys basketball team?

Confused - March 1, 2010 - 12:34 pm

Is MAHRY Ellen Cross the twin sister of Mary Ellen Cross?

Patrick - March 1, 2010 - 6:26 pm

Thanks, Blake. I will take you up on that offer!

Patrick - March 1, 2010 - 6:29 pm

In response to Nails, I believe that what Mr. Ross did was great and I don’t want to take anything away from him, but with a 12-5 record in a second year high school and a first year VARSITY basketball team, trumps all! By the way, the Mrs. Lowney’s boys are playing kids that are 2 or three years older than them! The coach of the year award goes to………….drum roll please…………….Coach Lowney of the Everest Collegiate Mountaineers!

Donald - March 1, 2010 - 7:17 pm

Response to Nails…
Mr. Ross won a banner but its unfair to use that against Mrs. Lowney seeing as districts are still yet to happen… after Mrs. Lowney leads us to district champs(LETS DO WORK!) then it will be clear who desereves the coach of the year award… if it’s not already clear enough!

Patrick - March 2, 2010 - 9:11 am

Amen, Don!

Dave - March 2, 2010 - 10:03 am

Also in response to Nails…. yes first banner in Everest Basketball history is really good, but i think 13-5 in high school Varsity team with two games left one being for districs. The team is also made up with only freshman and sophomores, and they accomplished that.. it’s pretty good. So i agree with Patrick and Don on Coach of the Year being………… Mrs. Lowney.

Dave - March 2, 2010 - 10:08 am

yes sir!

Lowney - March 2, 2010 - 10:51 am

Boys – thanks for the vote of confidence – but we still have so, so much to accomplish and a lot of work to get done. Coach Ross and the 5/6 Boys A team had a wonderful year. I enjoyed watching them play. Coach Ross, Craves and Johnson – and all the EA Coaches are doing a great job teaching the kids the fundamentals. As you all know – without basic skills – it’s hard to have success.

Let’s have three great practices in preparation for our game Friday. It’s our last home game so lets PACK THE GYM – WHITE OUT STYLE!!

Ross - March 2, 2010 - 12:03 pm

Guys, both teams have had a GREAT season. You hang something on the wall and I will be happy to give her Coach of the Year.
I’m glad I don’t see any 5th or 6th graders on here blogging.

Mary McMahon - March 2, 2010 - 7:12 pm

Maybe we can have two Coaches if the Year…but you boys have to bring home the hardware first!! Good luck with your next few games. It has been so much fun to watch you play and see history in the making!

To Coach Ross and his team – Congratulations on making school history!! What an awesome season! It was a privledge being your team mom.

Mr. C - March 2, 2010 - 7:33 pm

Nice job Coach Ross! Actually, coach of the year goes to Mr. Nalepa since he masterfully coached the young faculty to victory over the Varsity b-ball team back in November.

Good luck Varsity in Districts! Mr. C

Patrick - March 2, 2010 - 9:36 pm

Let’s finish hard, boys, and bring home some hardware for us, our coach, and our school!!!!!!!!!

Dave - March 4, 2010 - 8:20 am

Next year Mr. Cross, just wait. That was back in November, now we are a more experienced and better basketball team all around.

Blake Beauchamp - March 4, 2010 - 8:22 am

Yeah Mr. Cross now David can dunk… watch out! he could almost beat Steve Nash in 1 on 1…

Eagle - March 7, 2010 - 8:22 am

What an awesome game Friday night! I enjoyed every minute of it, from the cheerleaders singing the national anthem and their pom routine, to the action on the court by the team. The coaches and players are awesome but Mrs. Lowney you are the best! Just one comment it was a little warm in the gym!

Scuttle - March 8, 2010 - 11:20 am

A ‘LITTLE’ warm???? We could have baked some bread in the gym Friday night. :)

Pat - March 8, 2010 - 9:30 pm

Good work all season, guys! Let’s work to get stronger, faster, and bigger for next season.

Vince - March 24, 2010 - 2:45 pm

Great stuff!
